Sevier County Schools to Honor Local Legend Dolly Parton With Helmet Decal

Several of the county schools, including Sevier County High School, Gatlinburg-Pittman High School, Pigeon Forge High School, and Northview Senior Academy, will don a commemorative helmet decal for the remainder of their 2026 season in honor of the late Dolly Parton and the legacy that she left behind.

Parton, who was born and raised in the Locust Ridge community in Sevier County, passed away on August 25th after a brief battle with cancer.

"Dolly represented the very best of us. Not just as Sevier Countians or Tennesseans, but as Americans. We are proud to honor her. She will be missed dearly, but her memory and legacy will live on for a long time," stated GP coach Tyler Williams in a recent posting on social media platform X.

Dolly, a 1964 graduate of Sevier County High School and member of the "Pride of the Smoky Mountains" marching band during her time at SCHS, contributed funds and support to further the education of Sevier County residents throughout her illustrious career.
