Sevier County Bearettes Knock Off Pigeon Forge On The Diamond

On what turned out to be a beautiful evening for a game, after being delayed nearly an hour due to a thundershower that passed over the Bearettes softball team from Sevier County defended their home field and defeated the visiting Pigeon Forge Lady Tigers by a score of 23-0 in a run-rule shortened three inning contest.
Freshman Joselyn Hubbard started in the circle for Sevier County. She made quick work of the Lady Tigers in the first inning, with shortstop Jade Hubbard retiring the first two batters on grounders. The Lady Tigers would get Madison McFadden on base following a five pitch walk, however two pitches later the inning would end on a grounder to second fielded by Riley Mae Burrell who would fire it to first for the final out of the inning.
Jade Hubbard would get the Bearettes rolling in the bottom of the first after she roped a pitch into left field on a 2-1 count for a triple. Ja. Hubbard would score on a wild pitch on the opening pitch of the next at-bat. Joselyn Hubbard would help herself out as she also roped a triple into the centerfield gap past McFadden. The first pitch of the next at bat would see Madi Huskey blast her first homerun of the season over the left field wall to make it 3-0 Bearettes.
The Lady Tigers would get their first out of the inning on a ground ball by Lily Koelzer, who was ruled out by the field umpire after touching the safety base, which is not in play until next season. The offense would keep rolling after Emree Henderson, Briley Keyes, Riley Mae Burrell, & Riley Flasher were hit by pitches in consecutive at bats. Henderson plated run number four for the Bearettes, following the HBP of Flasher. Pigeon Forge would get their second out of the inning following a fielder's choice grounder to the pitcher Hope Blevins who would field and fire to Lady Tigers catcher Alexa Marquez for the out.
Jade and Joselyn Hubbard would both be hit by pitches, which would prompt Pigeon Forge to make a pitching change. Paula Marquez would enter the game in the circle for the Lady Tigers, where she would be rudely welcomed on her third pitch as Madi Huskey would rope a bases clearing triple to make the score 9-0 Sevier County. A single from Koelzer plated Huskey, a double from the next batter Henderson scored Koelzer to make the score 11-0. The Tigers would get out of the inning on a pop out from the Bearettes centerfielder Briley Keyes.
The Tigers would get their lone hit of the game in the top of the second as the lead off hitter Kaydence Posey would single on a hard grounder up the middle, and into centerfield. Hubbard would induce a pop fly from Mia Martinez for the first out of the inning and followed that with a strikeout of Alexa Marquez for the second out. Sevier County would get out of the second after a ground ball from Haydn Berry was fielded by Riley Mae Burrell who would make the easy throw over to Huskey at first for the final out of the inning.
The Bearettes picked up where they left off in the bottom of the second with singles from Burrell, Flasher which scored Burrell, & Miley Parton. Jade Hubbard would once again triple to score Flasher and Parton to make it 14-0 Bearettes. Joselyn Hubbard would reach on an error in center by McFadden, which would plate Jade to make it 15-0 Sevier County. Walks to Elizabeth Starritt, Heaven Quillen would load the bases before Hubbard scored on a wild pitch. Henderson would walk, Keyes would reach on an error by the shortstop Blevins which plated Starritt to make it 17-0.
Molly Zink would enter the game for Burrell and ground into the fielder's choice to second base Blevins for the first out of the second inning. Quillen would score on the fielder's choice to make it 18-0. Flasher would once again single to score Henderson. Parton would strike out for the second out of the inning..., a single by Jade Hubbard would advance the runners Joselyn Hubbard would hit a high fly ball to left which found the turf for a double, allowing Zink, and Flasher to score, making it 21-0.
Jade and Joselyn Hubbard both scored on the same wild pitch, making it 23-0. Starritt then grounded out to Emily Myers at first for the final out of the inning." Hubbard would return to the circle for the Bearettes and close the game with three strikeouts to end the game, with Sevier County claiming the 23-0 victory. Hubbard would go three innings, allowing one hit, one walk, while striking out four. Madi Huskey would finish the game with five RBI's to pace the Bearettes. Ja. Hubbard, Joselyn Hubbard, and Riley Flash would all contribute three RBI's each.
Sevier County who improved to 2-1 on the season, will face William Blount at home on Tuesday, March 10th at 5:30. Pigeon Forge who fell to 0-4 on the young season, will travel to Cosby to take on the Lady Eagles at 6 PM.
